Long hair or short hair?

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Mon Jan 26, '09, 2:53 am

If you have a pet, is it a long haired pet or a short haired pet?

This may pertain to mostly cats and dogs, I suppose.

Which do you think is easier to take care of - long hair or short hair? Or do you think it makes a difference at all?

Do you brush your pets' hair or coat? Or do anything else to improve their looks?

One of our cats is short haired, and one is medium length. Short hair is definitely easier to take care of, because it doesn't knot as badly. When we're brushing and combing out cats during shedding season, the one with longer hair has FAR more knots that can be quite tough to remove. She doesn't like getting combed, and the knots are probably why. They just brushed and combed, that's about it. No need to make them look better, they're not for show.

My dogs are Huskies, so they have medium length hair. They never get knots; but they shed a lot. Same with my cat.

I have a Daschund with short hair. Even though he sheds and seeing those little hairs around is somewhat annoying, it's much easier to take care of him and groom him because of the short hairs. Plus bathing isn't as bad as it could be

Well, I have the same pets as Lemina, so you guys know that they all have medium-length hair. :yaknow: I like animals with medium length hair, they're nice and soft to pet, but their hair doesn't get as tangled as long-haired animals.
