I will however be curious to read your thoughts when you tackle it.
And yes, continuity to me is important, I try to avoid skipping games in a serie.
I always develop my own opinions, but I do like reading reviews, recommendations, and I try to make my own judgements. My boyfriend did not tell me Bioshock 2 was bad, just that it felt like DLC more than a new game. Which I might find to be a fair judgement, and if I agree, hey, I got my copy of Bioshock 2 for 6 bucks anyway. I generally like to space out games in a series, simply so the experience of the previous game can fall away a bit and is less likely to color my impression of a sequel. I want to appreciate the sequel on its terms. When I do get to Bioshock 2, which probably won't be for a bit, you'll hear about it here.
I hear you about skipping games in a series. If there's continuity you can get lost story wise, but you also can't appreciate how something evolves. That's why I'm playing the first Borderlands now, before I even touch BL 2, which I got for free on PS Plus and bundled with my Vita.
