There were only two known working spaceships available at the time, right? That's Tyler's ship and the ship Rolf and company used to go between Motavia and Dezoris. I don't see Tyler being one to loan out his ship as he was also likely a wanted criminal (and why settle on Dezo otherwise?). So that leaves Rolf's ship, which was stuck on Dezoris, unless of course, someone from Rolf's group flew it back to Motavia.
They could have used one of the ships that escaped from Palma and landed on Motavia.
We know that Lutz returned to Motabia and performed the following tasks:
