If I'm not mistaken, Anna's game had no place for unlimited healing. There were a couple of places that had food, but they didn't regenerate if you revisited them later. Also, if you made a wrong turn in the Motavian's hideout, Anna would get thrown back to the edge of the wastelands (wilderness? cliff? I can't remember...) which didn't make the game hard, but it did make it really frustrating. Anyway, the lack of ways to heal Anna meant being really careful about progressing and making sure she didn't backtrack (use the hang glider in the wrong place, and you get sent back to fight the worms again, for instance). Her game's map, however, was one of the least difficult to navigate, and it was always pretty obvious how items she picked up were meant to be used.
