Hurricane Danny

Welcome (or maybe not) to the first Hurricane of this current 2015 Hurricane season, which has been named Hurricane Danny. Currently Danny is wrecking havoc close to Puerto Rico and places close by. Still too early to tell if Danny will have any impact on the weather in or around the USA as yet.

Danny is the first hurricane in the Atlantic to form this year. But it is not the first hurricane of the year, as there have been several typhoons (different name for the same thing) in the Pacific. In fact, due to El Nino, the Pacific has seen an extremely active year while the Atlantic has been quiet. Right now, there are TWO intense typhoons churning in the Pacific, right on the heels of super typhoon Soudelor, which devastated parts of the east Pacific, particularly Taiwan.

All that said, for residents of the east coast (myself included) Danny bears watching.
