Post subject: The Lego Church Project
PostPosted: Thu Jan 17, '13, 11:39 pm
Every year around April or so. I break out the bin of Lego bricks and take about a month and a half to build a Church. Now this is not anything small. But rather a massive construct that takes up a kitchen table in most cases. With full lights and about as much detail as one can put into it. A typical season runs from May/June to middle of Jan. At that time the project is torn down and the process starts all over again. This year was season 13. This April I start work on Season 14. <-- the fan page created on FB. <-- the main galleries with pictures of all 13 seasons.

Wow, that is awesome! I always wanted to do some kind of massive Lego project.

Extremely impressive! That must take some very interesting planning and some careful execution! I LOVE long projects like this!

Seriously, wow. Well done sir.

Any plans for expansions in the next years?

What is rather fun about this project is that I do take it on the road. I don't drive anymore so I'm thankful when I can secure a ride.

Not even sure what I'm planning for Season 14. I won't even know till I get the bricks out and start working on the lay out.

Totally awesome!! Simply amazing what you can do with legos. This may take a lot of time but it is certainly time well spent. Love it!! It makes me want to get out the old legos and build, build, build, but I could never do anything as dynamic as this!! :)

I don't know if I've ever told you, but I've always been impressed with the size and detail you use in these projects. Having played with Lego in my younger years, I can really respect the amount of planning you put into this. And the ability to transport it without it falling apart. My little creations never survived that much movement.

I've already played with legos in my youth...but I've never constructed those types of great buildings like you have done ! Congratulations again :)

Oddly enough once the project it built. Long as you know what areas you need to be careful with, it really is hard to do any major damage. The problem is that this thing weighs about 40lbs. So it takes two people to lift it. The planning varies from season to season. No single season is ever the same as far as the building goes. I have access to a few computer programs that help me design some stuff before I try to build it. Which makes things easier in some cases.
