This week marks the 31st anniversary of the death of "The King Of Rock and Roll ", Elvis Presley.

Elvis will live on in the hearts of many forever!

Anyone have a favorite Elvis song(s) or Elvis movie?

Not really. He was before my time, even if just barely, so I was never really very interested in his work. He had some good songs, sure, but I never made a point to listen to them that much.

Not a fan. I recognize his contribution to music, and he's got a song here and there that I think is okay, but not a fan. I've never seen any of his movies, so I can't comment on that.

[face=Times New Roman]At the risk of showing my age, I'm a big Elvis fan. (No, I'm not old enough to have attended one of his concerts, or even have any recollection of his death). But my mother introduced me to his music, and it often captures one of my elusive moods...

Since he has so many great songs, it's very difficult to pick a favourite. To me, his version of "Always On My Mind" is definitive; the subsequent covers just don't come close.

I watched Thunderbolt and Lightfoot on television the other day, and was struck by the song in the closing sequences: "Where Do I Go From Here?" Both the lyrics and the tune matched the essence of the final scene so well, it brought tears to my eyes. I haven't been able to trace the original Paul Williams version, but Elvis carries it beautifully.[/face]

I was never a big Elvis fan but the songs I did hear of his I didn't mind.
Just in general I gotta say he seemed like a great bloke.

Bumping this thread up to remember Elvis once again on the anniversary of his death tomorrow (Monday, August 16).

This past week has also been "Elvis week" in Memphis, I believe, where fans are remembering him, and celebrating his life, there too.

You know what's crazy, if Elvis never died, he could still be alive today. At the age of 75 none the less too.

Yeah, it makes one wonder what the last 30 years might have been like if influenced by new music he might have made.

Elvis fans came to Memphis, Tennessee from as far away as Brazil to remember Elvis:

Remembering Elvis Presley today, January 8, 2013, on what would have been his 78th birthday if he had lived!! Hard to imagine Elvis being 78. Since he died so young at the age of 42, he will always seem forever young to me. He, and his music, is still as popular today, and perhaps even more so in many areas, as when he was alive. Elvis will always be the King Of Rock And Roll!!!

Happy Birthday Elvis!!! :cake:  :proposetoast:
