In a move to capitalize on the original popularity of the game, an Asian company called Waixing Computer & Technology Co. Ltd. created four versions of Phantasy Star IV for the Famicom game console. These games are not official products endorsed by Sega or truly part of Phantasy Star. Rather, Waixing stole ideas from Phantasy Star IV to create these games. Still, we're going to cover them here because they're an interesting little side branch of Phantasy Star history.

There are four known versions of Waixing's pirated game: Xing He Zhan Shi, Xing Ji Zheng Ba, Xing Zhan Qing Yuan, and Wai Xing Zhan Shi. They appear to be the same basic game, but each release being at a different stage of development. As such, some have different sets of cutscenes and other internal differences. Xing Zhan Qing Yuan appears to be the most complete version.
