This illustration of Gryz decorates a section dealing with Motavians. The text discusses the changes seen in Motavian culture over the course of Phantasy Star, Phantasy Star II, and Phantasy Star IV. Gryz embodies those of the last game, when Motavians were gathered together as a people with villages, instead of wandering the desert as nomads.
