This is Rolf's movement sprite from his Text Adventure. The game is set about ten years before Phantasy Star II, in AW 1274. Although Rolf's starting in-game portrait reflects this by showing him as a young boy, this sprite does not. I think Rolf has another in-game portrait, but we may never know for sure unless this game is translated.
