As Chaz's visions conclude, he sees a heroine from each generation of Algo's protectors. For the third generation, Alys appears. This must have been very moving for Chaz, to behold one last image of the woman who was his teacher and a very mother-like figure in his life. Perhaps this was her way of saying goodbye?
