After rescuing Kyra, the small band of Protectors has travelled to Esper Mansion to seek the advice of Lutz, the Esper leader. However, when they enter the sanctuary of Lutz below Esper Mansion, Rune reveals that the legendary wizard is not there. In fact, he died long ago!

This scene was reused later in the game with the addition of a door being added in the background.
