Many characters are introduced with a bit of foreshadowing in cinema scenes. Rika and Demi, for instance, are shown with their faces covered by shadow during early conversations, well before they are introduced to the player. Oddly enough, one of these foreshadowing scenes is dedicated to the first vehicle of the game, the Land Rover. This seems like a strange choice, but perhaps the developers decided to hide it in a bit of shadow because of the decline in technology from the Phantasy Star II era. After all, how many vehicles still work 1,000 years later?
