The night after Alys is buried, Chaz stands on a balcony in Krup. He stares up at the sky, attempting to come to terms with the sudden changes in life. While Alys was well known and had gathered a good group of friends, Chaz was perhaps closer to her than anyone. She was his teacher and trainer, instructing him in weapons and the skills of a Hunter. Chaz himself is an orphan, but Alys took him in and became a maternal figure for the young man. Losing her leaves him adrift in the world, unsure how to move forward. On this night, under this sky, he tries to figure out what he should do next.
