Alys, Gryz, Hahn, and Chaz rest up in Zema's inn after the long trip from Tonoe and restoring all the townspeople from the ancient petrification curse. After they have set aside some of their equipment and begin to discuss their future plans, the quiet of the afternoon is broken by a distant scream. All four instantly turn toward the source of the sound. They quickly realize that the town is not as peaceful as they thought. A hurried gathering of equipment and a rush out to the street soon follow.
