Here is the heroine of Algo, extracted from the title screen of Phantasy Star. On that screen, she floats against the background of a starry sky, like some divine maiden who has descended to free Palma from Lassic's oppression. With this image, the game sets itself apart from its contemporaries. While all the other major games of the day featured males as their lead characters, Phantasy Star set the standard for strong female characters capable of headlining a game cast. Alis was one of the first game gals that did not take a back seat to any one.

Her sword here bears a remarkable resemblance to Phantasy Star IV's Elsydeon. Perhaps the design of that sword was based partly on the design of this one.
