This artwork displays the single large continent on planet Motavia during the time of Phantasy Star II. A map poster included with the Japanese edition of the game used this picture. The poster added some place names, a high-tech outer frame design, and the Phantasy Star II logo at the upper left. Also added was a compass at the lower left, which revealed that map is not aligned directly on the major compass directions. Instead, it is rotated about -20 degrees, placing true north in the upper left.
