A variation on the dragon enemies found in Phantasy Star - Deluxe Edition is the Serpent family. Also encountered as Wyvern or Nessie, these creatures are still winged snakes, just as in Phantasy Star. Technical limitations of the remake's platform prevent them from retaining their fire breathing attack animation, however. Instead, the creatures are depicted in the middle of lunging at the party. Very large, and no doubt sharp, fangs are bared as the Serpent prepares to strike.

Internally, the game names this image as "sarpent." Engrish strikes again, folks!
