At last, we are getting to the meat of the Phantasy Star Universe preview in Electronic Gaming Monthly 191. The article proper opens with a look at the offline component of the game, the single player quest featuring Ethan Waber. A quote from the director reveals that he desired to make the game appealing to Final Fantasy fans, a stance that might have invoked rage in some long time Phantasy Star fans. Along the bottom of the page, the first boss in introduced in a small screen shot. The concept of decorating Ethan's living space is also touched on.
