In this focus on Rune Walsh, we are able to see some of the facial expressions drawn when the Phantasy Star IV game artists were practicing and creating references for the character. These are all based on an early design for Rune, when he wore a turtleneck instead of the white trimmed collar used in the game. These expressions all seem somewhat comical, perhaps with the exception of the lower one. These might have helped in creating some of Rune's humorous conflicts with Chaz. Also included is a rear view of this early Rune design, with a transparent cape to allow the artists to create a detailed appearance for the back of his clothes.
