When plotting the cutscenes of Phantasy Star IV, the staff at Sega drew references by hand before creating them as 16-bit, sprite based gaming graphics on a computer. In this example, we can see three scenes represented. Kyra, in the middle, has a simple headshot. Her clasped hands were added at the level of her chin in the game. Rune's sketches, on the other hand, are nearly identical to the matching scenes in the game.
