When plotting the cutscenes of Phantasy Star IV, the staff at Sega drew references by hand before creating them as 16-bit, sprite based gaming graphics on a computer. In this example, we can see sketches of Rika and Chaz. Rika is aboard the Landale, happy that Wren has given his blessing to remain with Chaz. Two variations of Chaz gazing up longingly at the departing space ship are also presented.
