This drawing of slightly super deformed versions of Chaz and Rika was used in the Phantasy Star IV instruction manual as a decoration for advertisement of Sega's Gameplay Hotline. Back in the day, game manuals were filled with lots of fun decorative artwork like this, but you only see that very rarely in more recent manuals. The size of the bulky phones the pair is holding dates the picture a little. If it were drawn today, they would likely be using cell phones.
