This is the subscription-only variant cover of Nintendo Power #238, the first issue of the long running magazine to feature a Phantasy Star title on the cover. Two versions of the issue were printed, each with a different cover to encourage both subscription and newsstand purchases. Unlike the newsstand version, which needed to promote the book's content with a lot of text, this cover focuses on the artwork. Both covers were also included included as posters in Nintendo Power Posters 2009.
