The faces of Rolf and Nei are covered by shock and dismay as they witness a horrible scene. I believe this is their reaction to Darum and Tiem's tragic reunion. Seeing that sad ending play out, especially after spending so much time searching for the girl and bringing her to her father, would strike a chord in even the hardest of hearts. These two heroes must have been extremely sorrowful when they realized what had happened.
