The outer covers of the dust jacket for Sega Video Game Illustrations did not give any hint of Phantasy Star content in the book. Opening the cover takes care of that quickly. The inner flap portion of the jacket proudly displays this uncovered slice of the Phantasy Star II Japan release box art. As the first illustration inside the book, this sets an example for the quality of those that follow. Nei and her uncharacteristic fire arm never looked quite as good elsewhere.
