Title Screen

To mark the twentieth anniversary of Phantasy Star, the Sega Ages line created the most complete collection of classic Phantasy Star games. Every single game from the 8-bit and 16-bit eras was included. Even though the collection itself was released only in Japan, both English and Japanese versions are present for games that were released in English.

A variety of special features were also made available as part of this collection, such as artwork galleries, difficulty settings, and many features from the Saturn Phantasy Star Collection. Phantasy Star Adventure and Phantasy Star Gaiden are bonus features as well; they can be accessed only by holding Left on the console's directional pad when pressing start at the title screen. At the time of release, a complete soundtrack for the classic series was also made available, both separately and as part of a package with the game.

Unfortunately, none of the remakes of the classic series were included in the collection, making it incomplete despite the name. Phantasy Star: Deluxe Edition, Phantasy Star generation:1, and Phantasy Star generation:2 were all excluded.
