You're right... but Zio still deserved to die! He was acting of his own volition, for reasons none of us can understand. Whether he killed her himself, or just made Dark Force or even Profound Darkness (just an example) or any other monster kill her, he was still a determining factor in her death, so it is inevitably his fault.
Do we ever learn anything about him, aside from his actions?
i don't think he deserve to die like you said... I think he's kinda manipulated by Dark Force. He deserve something better than die... Thats what i think...
And thats my favorite vilain of all time, thats why i defended him
Well, you're right... I'm just very angry with him because I love Alys. I don't really want him to die, either... I just haven't forgiven him yet. But I hate Dark Force! I just love Alys too much to forget that. Still, it is very admirable that you look at Zio like that.
I suppose that it's not just Zio's fault - not all of it, but also Dark Force's. He/she/it caused her death after all! No Dark Force or Profound Darkness = No Black Energy Wave = Zio would never have gotten the power to kill Alys. Still, those of us who cannot bear the tragedy can just follow the FAQ written by Kaloes. That way we'll avoid it entirely, and Zio will never kill Alys. It's a win-win situation, really.

Thats different... A lot different!!! I'll try to explain...
Zio was a Vilain, so, its his job to look cool and be awesome (I said that, because thats the best vilain ever...), but we have to hate him because of something... At that something is the fact that he was with Dark force and killed someone of our team!!!
But Alys is also awesome because, during the story, we realise that she's awesome too... We can see letter on the wall in the Aeido' hunters guild thats she's one of the best hunter and all that. And, she take Chaz under her wings and raise him as a good hunter and a good person we like in the beginning of the the Story.
We can love both !!! Because both of them did his job perfectly in the game
Yeah, I agree with you! Just the fact they've evoked such emotions within us is proof they're excellent characters. Perhaps that is what makes the Phantasy Star games so great, because they're the epitome of how RPGs should be! More people should play them, and not just IV - they're all epic games of legendary proportions.
