Mass Effect (first game) Visual Question..

Postby Rylen » Mon Mar 16, '15, 4:31 pm

Hope this is in the right spot. But I have a question for anyone who has played the first Mass Effect game. (I have it for 360).

Does the game have a very grainy feel. Like their is a bit of static in the background and such? Such as being on some of the planets or even on the travel screen? And that gainy texture seems like it's moving?

Reason why I'm asking is just trying to see if it's the game... or my Visual Snow fired up.

On PS3 it looked pretty good, as I had said via Facebook. That said, as it's been a while, there may be spots where it gets grainy-ish, and certainly it has a busy background in a least a few spots. However, I obviously can't say if the PS3 look is exactly the same as on Xbox, but I imagine it would be largely similar.
Next Pokemon game(s): Pearl
Last finished Pokémon game: Shield
Other games: Skyrim Special Edition (Switch), Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Switch & PS4), Okami (Switch & PS4)
Other gaming goals: completing a Living Pokedex (minus some event Pokes) and going through at least 1 game per generation

I played the crappy PC port and never had issues like that. I hope it's just the disc or something, and not a bigger problem.

From what I understand, Mass Effect 1 was made as an homage to sci-fi movies from the Eighties, so BioWare added a film grain effect. Check the options menu; if I'm right, there should be an option to turn it off.

It's not a big issue with me. I think I'm seeing more of it because it plays with the VS.
