Fry eggs on sidewalks

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Sat Jul 23, '11, 12:29 am

Ever heard the old saying "It's so hot, you could fry an egg on the sidewalk" ?

Well, one guy tried to do just that:

Has anyone here ever tried this???

I actually believe it might be possible in some areas that are experiencing severe heat waves . However, that experiment above does not look totally cooked. :yuck:

Yea that egg he made looks like he only set it in the skillet for about 30 seconds and just took it out. It's been extremely hot here before, and I attempted to fry an egg on a good 109 degree day when i was fifteen. It's possible to do I'll admit, but I wouldn't eat it. Only due to the fact is I didn't have a skillet, I just cracked it on the ground to see if it would fry. It cooked after four or five mins on blacktop concrete but yea not edible for me lol.

The egg in that clip didn't look done to me, either. That could just be a side effect of having limited time for TV (assuming this was recorded for TV). On really hot days, I'm sure it would be easy to cook on a sidewalk. The presence of paved roads tends to make an area hotter, especially if they get a lot of direct sunlight. The heat I had to go out in last week definitely felt strong enough to cook in.

The down side is, to cook in that heat, you have to be out in it yourself. I don't know about you, but I'd much rather be inside on those days.
