It appears that sales are not going too well lately for the Nintendo Wii:

I don't know whether to be surprised or not by this as the Wii has been out for several years already and so many people already have one, and there's the very bad economy in so many places also which have shortened many people's buying habits even during the Christmas season.

I think that is because Wii is already near the end of its life. Most of people who were willing to buy a Wii already bought it. Even so, the console sees solid numbers of consoles sold around the world (sells constantly over XBox 360 worldwide), and it is close to hitting the 100m mark, what is an outstanding mark.

The ones who have to worry are Sony with the lackuster Vita sales.

I imagine the impending release of the Wii U has a lot to do with it, also. Some of the hold outs who haven't bought the Wii yet may have decided to just wait for the successor system. After all, it'll probably be out for the holidays this year.

I noticed the last time I went into Gamestop the Wii was down to 88 dollars at the lowest.
