But then there's the big question: Why are there still robots in the facilities after the facilities have been deactivated? Shouldn't there be a master control in each center that gives the an order to all robots residing within it to shut down?

Another lack of inteligence of the old inhabitants of the planets?

Could be.

The robots were probably independent of the facilities themselves. The designers never anticipated a need to shut down all the robots, I guess.

That is the most likely explaination.

Now, what role do the musk cats play? Are they bio-monsters by defination?

I don't think that Musk Cats are bio-monsters, since they weren't created or mutated from things in the bio-labs (from what I know of). To me, they're just a cute, fluffy kind of cat.

I totaly agree with the fluffly and cute part. But back on topic.. Was the principal in Piata truely breeding monsters? Or was it an experiment to see how monsters would react to certain chemicals and attacks?

The Piata thing was probably an experiment that got out of control. Zio might have triggered the systems to start spawning monsters in hopes they'd wipe out the town.

Maybe they were trying to find out how this "recent outbreak of new monsters" came in. I'm still wondering why, especially since they came from seed.
