Remembering the games of yesteryear.

What was the best SNES game?

Postby Thoul » Fri Dec 21, '07, 10:07 pm

Just like it's predecessor, the Super Nintendo launched many excellent entries into the console gaming market. Which SNES game would be your top pick of all time for this system?

For this system, my pick is Zelda: A Link to the Past. Chrono Trigger is a very close second for me, but I always enjoy a quick trip to Hyrule more.

Super Mario RPG and Chrono Trigger are my favorite 16-bit RPGs, right behind Phantasy Star IV.

Oh, sorry for double post but I forgot to pick a favorite.

Chrono Trigger is my favorite. The music, gameplay, story (and thus the fan fiction), and graphics (even now with HQ4x in emulators make it look GREAT) all make it my favorite 16-bit RPG right behind Phantasy Star IV.

Another vote for Chrono Trigger here. I love trying to get all the different endings. There are a few I still haven't seen yet. One day I'll have to play again to get those.

SMASH TV *head asplodes*

Seriously though, I love Smash TV. One of the most fun games I have ever played. Tough as nails, but will keep you coming back for more.

RPGwise - Secret of Mana, FF VI, FF IV, Soul Blazer, and Chrono Trigger

I do so love the Zelda theme. Hearing it always perks me up and makes me feel better. It's just such a wonderfully rousing adventure theme. :D

Yoshi's Island would be the best snes game in my opinion it is actually my most favourite game of all time. You could say that Yoshi's Island was a big part in my childhood I remeber sitting up playing this game for hours when I was like 9 years old and I have completed it several times. But I haven't played it for a few years now cause my snes is packed up. Brilliant graphics, cool enemies, everystage is unique and shows something new unlike other boring platform games. Yoshi's Island was a true snes legend. :) :D

I also have to give the nod to Link to the Past :triforce:

One sleeper RPG that I have to give the silver medal to is Shadowrun. The cyberpunk RPGs never seem to be as popular as the semi-medieval fantasy ones so it wasn't a smashing success. If you get a chance to try this game I'd highly recommend it.
