What's the best party order?

Postby Neithird » Thu Nov 8, '07, 7:13 pm

Did you ever change the order of your party members from the default line up in Phantasy Star IV? I don't remember if the other games allowed this, but PSIV lets you choose who is in front, second, third, etc. When you examine some things, you'll get different responses if someone else is in front. I never experimented with that much, but it would be great to see all the things everyone can say!

I always kept the default line-up, except for when Alys was in charge and I had Rika in my party. Then, I'd order it as Alys, Chaz, Rika, Gryz, then Hahn.

I did notice that everyone said different things when observing their surroundings, but I don't believe that I've checked with all the characters.

I always like to put Rika first, but that was before I learned that the characters in front get attacked most often, I realized this when Hahn kept dieing in the front, but was safe in the back. XD

Wren, Chaz, Rune, Rika, (Insert fourth party member here) =] Wren is good at soaking damage and continued to stand, so he made the perfect first slot. Chazs' defense is always high since he's holding a sword(DOH?) and he typicaly has the best platemail avalible. Rune always lugs around two silver sheilds and a reflect-robe, bringing his defense up so he doesn't constantly die. I always give Rika two claws, so her defense is typicaly the lowest.

Word of advice.. NEVER GIVE RUNE A CANE!!! :P

We always gave him both armor in the slots and when he needed to attack but ran out of magic we would use, like the Thunder claw or something.
Everything has a pattern. Something set. Even random things. They aren't random at all, its complex mathematics. The trick is to find the pattern. Then you can exploit it.

People think things have a certain end. Taxes. Work. Due dates don't really exist. Trust me. When you put a band of world scholars in the same room, and set them on talking about anything, the most interesting topics come up. The existence of negative time. The probability of "random occurrence". The government's involvement in the media. And falsified due dates. They aren't real, trust me....

Nice. =] I always used his skills more than his techs, so I'd never run out of TP. xD Rune was my tank.

Admittedly, when I first started playing it I gave him a cane. Now I know not to do that. :p And the same goes to Hahn and Raja.

Haha. I can't remember what website I got the idea from, but I recall the words "drop him with sheilds" refering to Rune. That was about 13 years ago, and it's still a good idea. :D

The only time I changed the party order was to move Hahn to the rear. I never noticed that everyone had different comments on the surroundings until starting my latest play through.

I used to always give Rune a staff. He didn't do much damage with it, but I always favored saving TP and skills for the boss. The recent run is the first time I've given him two shields.

I usually prefer a two-shield Rune and Raja, and I'd pretty much always prioritize the party order as:
Wren, Demi, Gryz, Seth, Alys, Chaz, Rika, Kyra, Hahn, Rune, Raja
I should probably re-think that when I'm doing two shields on Rune and Raja though. Rika's got great natural defense with her high agility stat, but she's very vulnerable to techs (etc.) with her pitiful mental; I should probably keep her at the back more often.

Right now in my gratitude challenge, Rika and Alys have ended up with two Crmcshields so I've been keeping them at the front. Having always kept Gryz or an android at the front of the party I find it pretty refreshing to see Rika saying, "How boring!" every time I check nothing.
