I felt the same way on digital downloads on consoles, right up until my boyfriend got me a PS Plus subscription for my birthday this year. Really makes PSN downloads a lot more flexible (plus the freebies and discounts on downloads), as I can download the games I bought as many times as I want.
That said, you do have to pay for it, so…yeah. But is at least available, and IMO, pretty worth it.
