Currently playing Vanquish. It's quite a third-person shooter, and it feels just a whole lot more dynamic than other kinds of played because of the sheer number of movement options. It's also kinda a Japanese guy's version of an American action movie, story-wise.

Also playing Bladestorm: The Hundred Years War, which is about as bonkers as any historical game made by the Dynasty Warriors team should be. Gameplay-wise it's a kinda "eh", but in other aspects it's totally bonkers and I love it. After all, the Hundred Years War was the ultimate conflict between the French and English and their various allies, like the Welsh. And the Irish. And the Germans. And the Italians. And the Scottish. And the Vikings. And the Turks. And the Arabs. And the Tuareg. And the Mongols. And the Chinese. And the Mali. And the Romans (Constantinople was still around, thanks). And the Samurai. Basically the idea is that the Hundred Years' War was so big, that anyone with a sword and some spare time decided to head on over and try their luck. And the accents are strong.

Well, now that it's out on PC, I'm all in on Ys IV: Memories of Celceta.

What they did with Karna's story? Not a fan.

Y's IV : Meories of Celceta ? Is this version the same as the one on PS VITA ? I've played it and finished it but I don't know if it's the same game. But with the name Karna I think it's the case : but was it a different game ?

It is the same one as the PS Vita, yeah. It's just now on PC also.

Replaying Mother 3 for the first time since the fan translation patch was released (10 years ago...man, it's been that long?!) We hacked an emulator and a pre-patched ROM onto our SNES mini, and been playing it on that. I've also been playing with the guide, which I got from Fangamer a year or two back at PAX East - they published a new hardcover version, and also made a fanmade EarthBound guide, which I also got.

I played for a while yesterday while laying on the couch after what's probably a pinched nerve in my back, and basically got through most of chapter 7. I finished at the beginning of chapter 8, which is pretty much the home stretch of the game. Unfortunately, I forgot that unlike EarthBound, after you beat the last boss in chapter 7, it just thrusts a point of no return at you, that you can do nothing about. EarthBound is a lot better about communicating that you have a point of no return, and you can go through it when you are ready. In Mother 3, you are pretty much locked in once you trigger the last boss fight of chapter 7. Not a big fan of that.

Otherwise though, game is still fantastic and holds up quite well, and I highly recommend it. In some ways it's better than its predecessor, in some ways not. I still personally prefer EarthBound, but either way, both games are masters at the juxtaposition of goofy, quirky humor and cheerful writing with some extremely dark, underlying (or in Mother 3's case, not very underlying at all) themes. I'd argue the Mother series is Nintendo's darkest franchise.

All I've been playing for the past month or so is Final Fantasy VII on my PS4. Just kind of got the itch to do it for some reason, and just went and got it on PSN. Some aspects definitely haven't aged that well, but there have been some nice new features added in that that make it easy to get past that. For one, you can set the game's speed to 3x normal. This can be great for getting through the overworld faster, and especially good in battles for some things (maybe not when selecting your actions, but for going through that long summon animation for the 549485244 time). You can also just toggle a setting to turn off random encounters, which is really appreciated when you just want to explore and find something you missed. Be careful not to abuse it though, as you'll find yourself under leveled come a scripted boss fight.

I also finally, finally did something in this game just yesterday that I could never do as a kid...beat the optional end-game super bosses Ruby and Emerald WEAPONs. Not only that, I basically solo'd them with one character. I posted the videos in a different thread, but can repost here if anyone wants.
