Were items ever removed?

When I was thinking about the possibilities for an item database, this question occurred to me. Were any items ever removed or changed in later editions of PS Online? For example, is there an item that was in the Dreamcast versions but excluded in the GameCube or Blue Burst versions? Or any with major stat changes, like an overly strong weapon being reduced in attack strength?
