Large Meteor Falls In Canada

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Mon Nov 24, '08, 10:55 pm

Have you heard about the big meteor that fell in Canada recently? I saw a video on the news where a policeman captured it on his videocam in his patrol car. It looked huge!!!!!!!! I think they are still looking for the exact spot it may have landed to explore it further.

Have you even seen a meteor or anything like this fall from the sky??

I actually did think I saw something on the 20th. I stepped outside and was heading to the store when something in the corner of my eye caught my attention. By the time I looked though. I saw nothing, thought nothing of it, and went to the store.

When i heard about the meteorite yesterday when my mom was driving me home from work. I put two and two together. Than I saw this topic!

I find it amazing that something fell that close to my city (I don't live in Saskatoon). I just hope nobody got hurt.

That must have been a sight to see. I hope they find where it hit and learn something interesting from it.

I heard about this a few days ago. Mighty interesting, but of course, I hope no one got hurt and no property was destroyed.

I am now going to use all of my willpower to stop the Earthbound maniac in me from making any references to alien bees from 10 years in the future. :p

Bumping this story up as I heard something about it on the "Fox & Friends" news show this morning. They finally found where the meteor fell and it was on a farm somewhere in Canada. I think they found several pieces of this thing and atleast one big piece that they said was worth about 250 K, I think it was. But, get this, the farmer whose land it fell on has GIVEN it away to a museum or some place like that for absolutely free, so it can be studied, etc. They told him that he could be a rich man, but he responded that yeah, he could also be younger too, but so what. Sounds like a heck of a nice guy, if you ask me, not to care about the money.

I just happened to catch some of this on TV this morning and haven't found a link to a story on this yet, but will post one if I find it, or anyone else feel free to do so.

I guess it just goes to show that some people are more interested in science or advancement than wealth. It's great that he did, he must be a pretty nice guy.

This is an interesting bit of news. I hope they might expound on the meteorite some more when they do some tests on it.
