February 2 - GroundHog Dog

Well, today was groundhog day. A way of predicting the weather, sort of. If the groundhog sees his shadow, then there is expected to be six more weeks of winter, and if he doesn't see his shadow, then there is expected to be an early spring.

This year, the main groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, did see his shadow, so winter will be around for atleast six more weeks. Boo!!!!!!!!!

I've always thought this was kind of silly. No matter how you look at it, there are about six weeks or more until Spring is officially here anyway. Oh well.

Yes. Probably because of all the lights shining on him.

Or because they just need an excuse to let it go on until it actually comes.

I just always found it amusing that the news is always there shining all these big spotlights on the groundhog. I just think "well, of course he's going to see his shadow, look at all the huge spotlights aimed at the poor creature!"

According to wikipedia, he's predicted an early spring 14 times, including last year. That's out of 112 tries though, so I guess the spotlights win out a lot.

Last year was an early spring? *didn't even notice* lol

i know.. it stayed cold around here till pretty much the end of april last year >_< I say the groundhog is actually some kinda alien lifeform that lives underground and just does some kind of weird research and then screws with people.
