For those who bought Phantasy Star 1 through the Wii's Virtual Console service, have you noticed any differences in the game? I know there are several in the other titles, but I've not seen anyone compile a list of changes to the original game. I suspect there are at least some graphical changes to the hospitals, matching those in other titles, if nothing else.

I didn't notice any differences, it seemed the same as the original cartridge to me.

Hm, maybe they didn't make any changes to this one, then. Or at least not any noticeable ones. Some of the others had some slight color changes that would probably be missed unless a person knew to look for them. Ah well, thanks for the confirmation. :)

For all the games on VC, there's always a basic filter to make the game less bright (surely a safety measure against epilepsia). Other than that it's the same...AND it's a real MISSED oppurtinity. Because some of the Master System games (mainly two of the Wonder Boy titles), when you press on the - button, you can access a special menu where you can activate the special sound chip only available normally in Japan for better sound quality. I guess you can all understand what that mean? It would have been the first time we could have had Phantasy Star here in America with the superior Japanese Soundtrack....but for some obscure reason, they chose not to include this function....really REALLY a bad idea if you ask me. Why include it in Wonder Boy games, but not in Phantasy Star???

Huh, that is odd. Maybe the sound feature didn't work with PSI for some reason. It's a shame they didn't include that - it would boost sales for sure.

I don't think there are any Virtual Console titles that have any changes in them. They all seem to be left intact and identical to their original cartridges.

Nah, there are several with changes. PSIV has some bug fixes, for example. The hospital icons in PSII (and maybe PSIII) were altered, too.

What I do know of all the changes:

PSII's hospital icon was changed from a green cross to a green H symbol.

PSIII, I think, had the parallax scrolling battle backgrounds from the Japanese version patched back in. I'm not sure.

PSIV had the infamous Level 99 glitch fixed (for everyone but Seth).
