Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Sat Jul 1, '17, 4:04 am

A new and smaller version of the classic Super Nintendo Entertainment System is coming in September of this year. The gaming system will feature around 20 or so games and the price tag will be around $80 bucks!

Will you buy one of these new sytems?

Does anyone still have their original SNES?

  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Mega Man X (AKA The Only Mega Man Game YOU Need To Play)

  • StarFox 2 (!!!)
  • Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting Edition
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Super Ghouls n' Ghosts

Read my social stuff!
The ramblings of an oldish geezer on Facebook.
@SnorbESnorb on Twitter. The "E" stands for "Everything."

Play my games!
The ArrrPG - A game I made about being a pirate. This be a first draft, matey! Though it plays just fine, clap yer eyes on th' eventual Revised an' Expanded Edition and you'll be pleased, by thunder!

Nakama: A Card Game of Magical Girls - A completely un-playtested card game about being a magical girl.

Well, excuse me while I defy all laws of logic and common sense and do it anyway.

I can't help but think (and this is not to put a damper on the party) that this is going to be like the NES classic. Grossly understocked, with few people actually able to get their hands on the thing. Most of them getting bought by scalpers who flip them for 3-4 times the MSRP. Apparently pre-orders already sold out and I bet most of them aren't purchases by fans, but rather from people who will immediately resell at a nice profit. Already there are stories about exactly that. Nintendo...seriously. Adequately stock your hardware.

We still have working SNES consoles, and my 3DS can run SNES virtual console games.
Next Pokemon game(s): Pearl
Last finished Pokémon game: Shield
Other games: Skyrim Special Edition (Switch), Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Switch & PS4), Okami (Switch & PS4)
Other gaming goals: completing a Living Pokedex (minus some event Pokes) and going through at least 1 game per generation

Sorry about the broken link originally in my first post up above. The link has been fixed now and a few more links added as well.

I also hope they make enough of these new gaming consoles so that everyone that wants one can find one easily and without having to pay an outrageous price for it, etc. We also still have our original SNES and last I checked it worked perfectly, so I probably won't be buying one of these new ones. Still, I am happy they are having it for the people who don't already have a SNES.

Just a thought but if anyone wanted an original SNES, they might be able to find one of those on ebay. I haven't looked, but ebay usually has anything anyone could ever want! Might be something to think about if you can't find one of these mini classic SNES's. Of course, there is no telling what price you may have to pay on that site for one of these original gaming systems either, if you can even find one, that is. And, if you did find one of the gaming systems there, it probably would not include any of the games to play on it. Something to think about, I guess.

SNES is also pretty common stock at retro game stores, if you're lucky enough to have one in your area. Usually they're not that expensive, at least in my experience - maybe around $50, depending on what accessories/controllers it's bundled with. A lot of the games will run you more than the console itself.
