It won't be long now until the 2016 Summer Olympics begin in Brazil. Anyone else looking forward to seeing these events? It all begins in August.

Hopefully, they will be ready. We'll see, but Rio is running into trouble when it comes to infrastructure, stability and even health.

I think the opening ceremony is this Friday, Aug. 5, if I am not mistaken. It will be interesting to see which celebrity, or other famous person, may light the torch beginning the Olympics!

I have been hearing in the news about some athletes already winning medals or contests. I don't know how that happens before the opening ceremony even begins, but whatever!

Going to be an interesting competition!

For anyone who may be interested you can find a tally of the medals won at the link below:

https://www.rio2016.com/en/medal-count-country

The info is updated daily, I think.

And, here is some very interesting information about the Medals themselves, what they are made of, how they got their look, etc.

Just have to say congratulations to all the USA gold medal winners and others who are doing an outstanding work in this Olympics in Rio! As it stands right now, I think the USA is ahead in the medal count, but that could change. The women's gymnastic team has been superb, as well as swimmer Michael Phelps!

All the athletes from every country are to be congratulated for the magnificent display of skills they have shown, and are showing as this Olympics continues this week.

It has been awesome to watch!!!

Well, the summer Olympics are winding down now with only a few days left to go this week and then they will be over. Four years seems like a long time until the next Olympics.

I happened to read an interesting article about taxes that USA athletes may be required to pay on some of their winning medals, or rather the cash money they get along with the medals. I had no idea this happened, especially since the athletes are representing their home country.

What is your opinion? Do you think the Olympic athletes should be taxed on their winnings at the Olympics?

And, a troublesome story regarding some of the US Olympic swimmers and recent events in Rio during their stay there:

A bit embarrassing for the US, to say the least!
