Nintendo 2DS Price slash

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Sat May 21, '16, 2:51 am

Beginning today, May 20, the Nintendo 2DS gets another price slash which may make it more affordable to those of you who have not gotten one of these units yet and still want one.

I like the idea of the 2DS, what with it being a much cheaper 3DS. But the design is bulky and I think it defeats a few purposes of being a handheld. One thing I love about the 3DS is the clamshell design's protectiveness, and also pocket friendliness. But then, I think the 2DS target market is kids, as I seem to remember hearing that many kids broke their 3DS units by opening and closing them too roughly.

I also dunno how many more handhelds Nintendo can sell, especially with the NX on the horizon, even if we still have clue what it actually is.
Next Pokemon game(s): Pearl
Last finished Pokémon game: Shield
Other games: Skyrim Special Edition (Switch), Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Switch & PS4), Okami (Switch & PS4)
Other gaming goals: completing a Living Pokedex (minus some event Pokes) and going through at least 1 game per generation

I never really liked the 2DS's design--I think 2 screens on a flat tablet like thing looks awkward. It is a great way to get the system for cheap, especially if you just want one or two games for the 3DS overall. Is it compatible with the new 3DS games?

If you mean the "New" Nintendo 3DS (I hate hate hate that name) as in the model with some minor hardware upgrades, I don't think so. I think there are only handful of games exclusive to it (any SNES VC games, The Binding of Isaac, Xenoblades, maybe a few more) and some games like Hyrule Warriors Legends run better on it. So you aren't missing on THAT much.

That said, I won't deny that I love having EarthBound on a handheld.

I think its worth mentioning that if you ever intended on recording footage from it for various reasons, there is no current 2DS capture card like there is for the 3DS.

Its not a big deal for a lot of people, but for the people who care about recording stuff that would be a huge blow.
I feel the way you would
