JFK Assassination Anniversary

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Fri Nov 22, '13, 7:49 pm

Today is November 22, 2013 and it is the 50th anniversary of the assassination of US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. While not an official holiday, it is still a very important day in US history and a day that many people observe and recognize and remember the events that happened so many years ago (50 years ago now) on this day in November 1963.

Many of those that were alive on this day in November 1963 and who are still alive today have never forgotten the horrific events of this day and how it impacted our nation. And for those who were not even born at that time, there are documentaries, books, films, movies, videos, and so much more documentation of all the events that happened on that day and the following days and of all the people involved, etc., that one can easily grasp the significance of the event and what it meant to people individually and the nation as a whole.

Also, there are still many unanswered questions in the minds of many people as to what actually happened and why it happened and who was behind it all. Was there a conspiracy of some type? Did Oswald act alone? Many, many questions that will probably be never answered in any of our life times.

And, the biggest question in my mind is why all the secrecy, even today, 50 years past? Why are some events and other things being with held from the public for 50 years or even longer. Such as Jackie Kennedy's pink suit that according to the article below will not be seen by the public until many, many years in the future. Why not, is my question. In my opinion, withholding all these things just seems to create some kind of conspiracy all on it's own. JMHO.

Anyway, whether you are/were a Republican or Democrat, or were a fan of JFK or the Kennedy Family, etc., the assassination of a US President is a major timeline in United States History and will forever be remembered in horror, sadness, and shock.

I suppose this year was the 52nd anniversary of JFK's death. Funny, I don't remember hearing anything about it this year, or if I did I forgot it.

Since Senator Teddy Kennedy passed on (JFK's brother), the Kennedy family is not much in the news events any more. JFK's daughter, Carolyn, (and the only member of JFK's immediate family still living) was named ambassador to Japan (or was it China, I forget) under the Obama administration, but we never hear anything about her either any more. I expect there may be something said regarding the Kennedy family during the Democratic Presidential get together next year. We'll see.

Remembering former US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK) on what would be the 55th anniversary of his assassination. Only heard one news item about this on the news today and haven't read anything anywhere else. A Pity. This event touched the heart and soul of this nation 55 years ago and needs to be remembered.

I guess since it is also Thanksgiving Day today and the start of Black Friday sales that many people are otherwise engaged. Understandable, I suppose.
