DragonLance books ?

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Fri Oct 30, '15, 4:58 pm

Now that I have finished reading the entire Shannara series I am looking for something else to begin reading. A friend suggested the DragonLance series of books. I don't think I have ever read them.

I was wondering if anyone here had read any of these books, and if so, what did you think of them? Would you recommend them as interesting books to read, or not? Are they anything like the Shannara books? Would appreciate any replies.

I haven't read any of them; I do, however, have the Dragonlance Campaign Setting book for Third Edition D&D.

I, uh... I don't think that's going to be of any help here, though. XD

There are also three computer games that take place in the setting-- Champions of Krynn, Death Knights of Krynn, and The Dark Queen of Krynn-- based on Second Edition D&D. I haven't played those, but there are Let's Plays available on the LP Archive. (...I don't think those'll help give you an informed opinion either. =p)

(Shuts up before mentioning that kender, one of the Krynn races, was almost in Fifth Edition D&D)

Well, excuse me while I defy all laws of logic and common sense and do it anyway.

They are very good. Read the original trilogy (Dragons of Winter, Summer, Autumn) followed by the second trilogy (test of the Twins, Time of the Twins, War of the Twins). I do not think I got the order correct, but those are the ones I recommend. They created trilogies to fill in the gaps of the original trilogy but I did not enjoy those as much. I have also read several of the other books in the series and found most of them to be really enjoyable.
All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.

Thanks for your comments Jessie. Makes me feel a little better about deciding whether or not to start reading the series of books.
