StreetFighter movie

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Mon Nov 17, '14, 6:21 pm

Just wondering if anyone here knows anything about a "Streetfighter" movie? I happened to see a DVD while in town last week and I was surprised because I did not remember hearing anything about this movie at all. From what I could tell looking at the DVD cover it appeared to have real people playing the Streetfighter characters. I think I recognized Akuma. I should have purchased it but I didn't and now I can't stop thinking about it. Has anyone seen this movie, and is it worth buying??

Yes this film existed. Came out in 1994. Many people wished it had not. It was turned into a Van Damme action flick. The plot was thin. The fighting was ok. But really didn't have any of the special moves. It was also one of the last films Raúl Juliá was in before he passed.

I am surprised this film even made it to DVD......

That movie was a joke that only the second Mortal Kombat managed to surpass in terms of mediocrity and platitude.

But hey, invisible boats and Bison dollars FTW!

(And no, Akuma was not part of that movie)

Thanks Rylen, and Aeroprism for your comments above. I think I do barely remember that "Streetfigher" movie, especially Jean Claude Van Damme, however, that was not the DVD I saw in the store last week. So, I just did a google search to try and find it (all I remember basically is the cover of the DVD) and I found this below. Has anyone seen this? It looks like it may have been a TV series or something. Will have to look at this further before I decide whether or not to purchase it.

The only thing good about that movie is Raul Julia's fantastically over the top performance as M. Bison. "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me? It was Tuesday."

You might be referring to "The legend of Chun-Li" then. I haven't seen that one because to be honest, the first Street Fighter burned me too bad but above that: because the main actress (Kristin Kreuk) makes me grate my teeth. I -hate- her.

That Assassin's fist is not a movie, it's a web series. First time I hear about it. Now i need to watch it. I'll come back with my thoughts when I'm done.

Thanks for your comments also Parma Ham. :)

Aero, if I understood the description that I read on Wikipedia, it is a web based series but they have also released it as a movie as well.

I have decided if I can still find it when I go back to town to spend the twenty bucks and get it while it is still available. Let you all know more about it then.

I actually heard really good things about it from friends of mine who are Street Fighter fans. Apparently it's pretty true to the games and very well done for a web series. I've been meaning to check it out.

Coming in way late here, but I have this DVD. Someone gave it as a gift, I think (it's been a while), and I hadn't heard of it before. It's really quite good, more so if you're a fan of Ken and Ryu. If you don't like those characters then this is definitely one to skip, as it's almost entirely about their training and early days. I think there's like three major characters from the mythos in the series, so it's really focused on the details of that handful. Hm, does Ken and Ryu's teacher count as a major character now? If so, I guess that would make four.

I was impressed with the production quality overall. I couldn't really tell it was a web series when I watched it. I did suspect, due to the time length and format, but it was very well done. I've read a sequel is in development, I look forward to see it that some day too.
