Persona series

Concerning the Persona Series, that is, Shin Megami Tensei Persona, which is the best game of the series? I haven't played any of them, but I noticed that the series gets generally favorable reviews. Thank you for your feedback

Considering I've only played Persona 4 (and not very long at that), I'd have to be biased and go with Persona 4. =p

(Seriously, though, Persona 1 and the 2 duology play much differently than Persona 3 and 4 do. Persona 3 and 4 are a bit more difficult in that if your character dies, the game is over, but there's plot-related reasons for that. If your character in Persona 1 or 2 dies, well, you've got at least one friend with revive magic or revive items!)

I do not know how the upcoming Persona 5 is going to play, but it looks like it'll play like 3 and 4.

(Also, I just want to point out that the official chronology of this series is Shin Megami Tensei: If (Female Protagonist path) > Persona 1 > Persona 2: Innocent Sin > Persona 2: Eternal Punishment > Persona 3/Persona 3 FES > Persona 4/Persona 4: The Golden > Persona 4: Arena > Persona 4: Arena Ultimax > Persona 4: Dancing All Night > Persona 5. Yes, two fighting games and a rhythm game are canon.)

Well, excuse me while I defy all laws of logic and common sense and do it anyway.

For me it was a toss up between Persona 3 and 4, both are fantastic games. While I felt like 3 had a better story, 4 improved on the gameplay.

Just don't play the PSP version of Persona 3, its very watered down.

On the other hand, Persona 3 Portable actually lets you control the other party members in combat and it collapses Slashing/Penetrating/Bludgeoning damage into Physical damage...

Then again, game's still over if you die, even if someone's able to cast Recarm or has some Recarm Beads ready to go.
