Toy Hall Of Fame/History Of Electronic Games

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Sat Nov 16, '13, 8:11 pm

I was browsing around the web the other night and found some very interesting things. First, the new 2013 inductees into the National Toy Hall Of Fame are the game of Chess and the Rubber Ducky Toy:

But, wait, what has this got to do with video games you may ask. Well, while I was at the sight I looked at the list of items previously inducted into the Hall Of Fame and was pleasantly surprised to find that the Atari 2600 Game System and Nintendo Game Boy were added in previous years:

Browsing around further, I came upon a site called the International Center For The History Of Electronic Games and was blown away by all I found there. Take a look:

http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2013/10/s ... deo-games/

There are many, many more links to explore if you visit these sites and it might take a while to see everything.

Caged Wolf, it may interest you also as I saw several things on Mother from the Earthbound game, etc.

These are wonderful sites and so happy that the video game world is being preserved like this.

And that museum is in Rochester, which is where my boyfriend attended college, so I might be up in that neck of the woods someday. This seems worth a visit! And Silver, I did see a Mother related article right on the front page.
Next Pokemon game(s): Pearl
Last finished Pokémon game: Shield
Other games: Skyrim Special Edition (Switch), Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Switch & PS4), Okami (Switch & PS4)
Other gaming goals: completing a Living Pokedex (minus some event Pokes) and going through at least 1 game per generation

Included are papers and other materials from industry luminaries such as... , and important publications such as... and copies of nearly every strategy guide published by Prima Games.

Hahahahaha! Having a nearly complete library of every Prima Guide ever published isn't really something to be bragging about. Still an interesting website though.

Congrats to Rubik's Cube, Bubbles, and Little Green Army Men for winning induction into the Toy Hall Of Fame for this year. These 3 won out over the other list of nominees (see above post) for 2014. Better luck next time to the nominees that did not win for this year, especially The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
