"Sure, go ahead." Mira flips her notepad to a blank page as she slides into a more professional pose. "So, as I understand it you're a Hunter who decided to join up here- what made you take the leap from chasing overweight dogs and birds for a living?"

"Former Hunter?" Rio asked. She sat down in an empty chair, the stress of the day practically melting away as she began to relax. "You... you didn't happen to know a Hunter named Nathan Collins, did you?"

[OOC: I'm just a little late. Sorry...]

Castiel glanced towards Mira, giving off a look as if he were choosing his words carefully. Before he could say anything, Rio joined the two at the table.

"Nathan Collins? Sorry I can't say I have. The only Nathan name I know was a Jericho Nathans. He was a Hunter in his forties, really good with a blade."

Cass took a deep breath, as he looked to Mira with a more serious look. "I'm sure you heard of Operation Ares. The extermination mission that was commissioned to the caves east of Piata." Castiel paused as he remembered the how the mission failed and several Hunters were slaughtered. How the press blew everything out of proportion and the Hunter's Guild almost got shut down as a result."

"I was a part of the operation. It was supposed to be a pretty routine operation. A dozen Hunters go in, defeat a nest of Sand Newt, then leave. Everything was going well until we discovered a monster from the Tear."

Cass swallowed and looked away as he remembered how he watched his friends fall around him. "It was a massacre. We tried to escape but we were overrun by the Newts. There was more than we imagined. My friends died and I went berserk. I don't know how many I killed, but when I was found I was covered in the guts and blood of the Newts. That's where I became known as Reaper."

Images flashed through his head as he remembered slashing through several dozen enemies as if he were a machine. He paused as he tried to control his emotions. "Only half of us lived. The monster from the Tear escaped and I've been tracking it for the past two years. Does that answer your question?"

Mira's eyes glint a flash of guilt before she returns to her notepad. "I... see. I was at some shareholder's gala when that happened- one of the organizers announced that some hunters were killed; some people cheered since a chain of weapon shops were a large portion of the portfolio at the time. They all then continued on like nothing happened." She scribbles a note on the margin in a purposely-illegible script. "...What do you believe is the most important trait for someone in this line of work? As a Guardian?"

"I think that differs from person to person. I don't think it's a singular trait but multiple. For me, it's my reason to fight and my will to keep pushing forward no matter how hard it gets. Cliche I know, but that's just me."

Castiel watched as Mira scribbled something illegible on her notepad as he continued. "Of course, unless you have strength those are just empty words. 'You can't help anyone if you're dead,'" Castiel said, quoting his late friend.

"I'm just the tourist here, I can't knock a 'cliche' if it's true." She adds a couple notes about throwing in a closing statement and closes her notepad before setting it on Castiel's files. "I'll worry about spinning and sending that later. What would be fun to do around here right now?"

Rio looked over to Mira. "Well, if you're looking for fun, I'm always looking for a hnefatafl opponent. My mother taught me how to play it." (She pronounced it "Huh-ne-fa-tough-el.")

She smiled, not particularly anticipating Mira to be interested in a Motavian board game. "I... suppose there's probably a concert or a play going on elsewhere in the base. Maybe one of the other teams has something going on?"

Castiel looked around at the small crowd of Guardians, studying various faces as he leaned back in his chair. "Maybe they do," Castiel said in reply to Rio. His eyes stopped on a young guardian with a short ponytail and cyan hair. "Maybe I'll go find out," Castiel said flashing a smile to companions as he got out of his chair.

Castiel made his way through room until he was beside the young guardian who was talking with a her friends. "I'm telling you it's not like that with Jakob, he's a really nice guy."

"And who might this Jakob be?" Castiel asked, making the young guardian jump and turn around. Cass smiled and gave a small wave, "Hi." The girl smiled and jumped into Castiel's arms giving him a big hug. "Cass! I didn't know you were here! When did you arrive?"

"I got here today actually," Cass said as he returned the hug. "You've gotten taller Serenity."

"Who is this?" One of the other guardians asked.

"He's my big brother!" Serenity replied, finally releasing her grip on Castiel.

"Your brother?" Rio asked, surprised. "Cas, you never said you had a sister!"

"It just never came up I guess," Castiel said as he looked at his seventeen year old sister. Standing at 5'6" he thought she looked more grown up. Her grey eyes had turned silver in the two years he hadn't seen her. She wore a simple black tank top with a pair of jean shorts and sandals.

"And who is this Cass?" Serenity questioned her elder brother. Castiel let off a small shrug and replied, "This is Rio, a member of New Millennium, the team I'm a part of."

Serenity gave Rio a long look, almost as if she were judging her.
