I barely remember seeing a little of "The Thorn Birds" on tv once.

Aww, I liked The Thorn Birds. I read the book first when I was in college, and then my mom and I managed to track down the miniseries on DVD and watched all eight (I think?) hours of it when I came home on a break. A lot of it was cheesy and soap opera-esque, but I still think the basic plot of the book (an ambitious priest who wants to move up in the ranks in the Catholic church falls in love with a young woman) is pretty interesting and was written well.

I'll admit I never read any other books by Colleen McCullough, but maybe I'll go check them out.
